Don't be a dolt like I was and stand at the closed door at the end of the north hallway. When you get close to it, there's a gear that shows up and you can open it!
Yes, LASS-E, you were a good boy. \sniff.

Description
An elite aerial unit wouldn't be complete without the newest innovations in flying machine technology. There's just one small problem. The innovative new engine we built was left behind when we evacuated Gnomeregan. We need that prototype if we want these bombers to safely get off the ground!

Pins are the quest’s own POI points from the current retail client, projected onto the in-game zone map. The game marks one blob as the quest’s turn-in; the rest are objective areas. Points that fall outside a map’s window are dropped rather than guessed at.

Where this quest fits
Before this quest
Taken from the storyline's own step order.
- Gnomeregan's Finest
The leaders of the Alliance have agreed to fund an elite gnomish aerial task force. And you have been chosen to lead the test team for the Gnomish Elite Aerial Rangers. I have assembled some of the finest tinkers and soldiers from Gnomeregan, who are now under your command.
After this quest
Taken from the storyline's own step order.
- A Tundra Conundrum
While you were in Gnomeregan, we received a distress signal from Fizzcrank Airstrip in Borean Tundra. This seems like the perfect opportunity to show off what G.E.A.R. can do! I've sent the rest of your squad ahead. Meet them out there.
