It is possible to win the argument without killing [npc=222045], in case you're trying for the pacifist route.
Its possible to finish this argument via the pacifist route, just repeat that you think he's being corrupted and he'll toss it back to you.
That being said, I want to know why it doesn't corrupt me while I hold or carry it about. I want to run around glowing purple and telling random people Xalatath's feet are amazeballs till a character takes it off me for my own good...
Sadly its totally useless to me, my current trinket is more powerful and its not even warbound. Pity.
