Befriending Giants

Befriending Giants is a Horde-only quest for level 5-30 in Azshara. It is step 37 of 88 in the Azshara storyline. The quest's turn-in marker is in Azshara at 50.6, 74.2. It rewards 1 reputation reward, 3,100 experience and money.

Description

A cursory study of the azsharite you brought me reveals that it's not biological in nature, nor is it naturally formed. There's another creature in Azshara with similar properties: the cliff giants that lumber around these cliffs.

One of the giants seems willing to help our research along. Take the meat you collected to Gormungan, the giant standing just west of here. Befriend him, then grill him - find out if he knows the secret of azsharite!

This is actually a very old joke, from one of Azshara questlines in original vanilla WoW. Different quest NPCs of course, but the same "surprise" discovery. Same blue crystals around the cliff giants then as now, including the occasional one in the shape of a terrified humanoid.

Before this quest

  • A Gigantic SnackAzshara · Level 5-30

While you're here running around the cliffs, perhaps you can help me with another line of investigation. The giants who walk these cliffs have been here since these mountains formed. Maybe they know where the Azsharite comes from? It's in our best interest to befriend these giants and find out.

After this quest

Taken from the storyline's own step order.

  • Azsharite Experiment Number OneAzshara · Level 5-30

Well, I can think of one surefire way to send a giant running to the bathroom, but you're not going to like it. What we need is a ... massive ... laxative. Oh hey! Would you believe the gnomes have something of the sort? That can't be a coincidence.
