Mysterious Azsharite

Mysterious Azsharite is a Horde-only quest for level 5-30 in Azshara. It is step 35 of 88 in the Azshara storyline. The quest's turn-in marker is in Azshara at 50.6, 74.2. It rewards 1 reputation reward, 4,100 experience and money.

Description

Azsharite! This mysterious crystalline substance has been used to forge weapons of fel power, but in our hands, we've discovered that it's capable of focusing enormous amounts of energy. It may be the biggest goblin discovery since kaja'mite.

But what is it? Where does it come from? Why is it located only here? Science demands an answer! I need more samples to study. Search out Azsharite deposits all along the nearby cliffs.

The azsharite samples have a couple different looks. One looks like crystals sticking up out of the ground. The other looks like a person turned into crystal (I have seen troll and human forms, but other races may be frozen as well). Either of these forms counts as a sample.

After completing the quest line you find out that the azsharite samples are really Giant droppings. Which brings to mind the question why some of the droppings look like frozen people?

The Crystallized Note you may find reads this:

'To Whom It May Concern:

If you are reading this note, then you are in one of two places:

(1) On the southern peninsula of Azshara.

(2) Inside the belly of a Cliff Giant.

Both are equally undesirable.

It should be noted that I was the former at one time and as of the writing of thise note, the latter.

PAGE TWO

Being inside the belly of a giant gives one time for reflection.

As my body slowly crystallizes, I recall my days in Eversong, contemplating a life of adventure on the savage frontiers across the great sea. I was young. And stupid. If I somehow get out of here, I'm taking up gardening or whittling instead.

- Windan Shay'

I thought this would interest some people. I keep this note in my bank for keepsakes.

I'm not sure if this has been said anywhere else but the entire quest line hints at it and throws little jokes in about what Azsharite really is. When you are escorting the hot Azsharite, the giant, Gormungan, comments on what a load you have there. Assistant Greely says she will be up to her neck in it. There are more but I've forgotten what they were. I think the Blizz devs might have been running low on ideas considering the number of excrement related quests and jokes in Cata.

Shortly after my intellect was augmented, I bred with Subject Four in order to create a unique race of cognitively superior raptors. Subsequently, Subject Four neither called nor wrote: I have determined to disembowel him upon our next encounter.

  • A Gigantic SnackAzshara · Level 5-30

While you're here running around the cliffs, perhaps you can help me with another line of investigation. The giants who walk these cliffs have been here since these mountains formed. Maybe they know where the Azsharite comes from? It's in our best interest to befriend these giants and find out.
