Brute Strength (Alliance)

Brute Strength is an Alliance-only quest for level 15-30 in Western Plaguelands. It is step 5 of 63 in the Western Plaguelands storyline. The quest's turn-in marker is in Western Plaguelands at 41.1, 70.3. It rewards 1 reputation reward, 6,200 experience and money.

Description

Gandling has brought his lieutenant, Rattlegore, with him. This clattering horror is far more dangerous than any of the other Scourge you will find upon the battlefield... even the abominations.

You will find Rattlegore within an old town-hall building, near the center of town. I recommend caution before fighting him, <name>. He will not be a pushover.

Must be part of the new phasing system. Very cool.

This is one of the 3 quests you get that take you deeper into the town. There are battles between NPCs (your faction) and the soon-to-be-routed Scourge mobs.

You should get all three of these quests together--Araj, Gandling, and Rattlegore.

This is important: if the faction NPCs are fighting the Scourge mob you can run past and not aggro them. If the mob is not in combat or kills the faction NPC while you are in proximity you will be targeted.

Rattlegore has about 2300 health. When you enter the house he will not immediately attack. You have a few seconds to cast defensive spells if you need to. Once you move another 3-4 steps inside he will begin to charge.

Burn him down, fairly easy fight.

Where this quest fits

Before this quest

Taken from the storyline's own step order.

  • ScholomancerWestern Plaguelands · Level 15-30

The Scholomance is one of the few Scourge holdouts remaining west of the Thondroril. The headmaster of Scholomance, a cultist by the name of Darkmaster Gandling, has made an appearance on the battlefield. This will be his final mistake.

After this quest

Taken from the storyline's own step order.

  • Araj the SummonerWestern Plaguelands · Level 15-30

With the animus destroyed, the next logical step is to take out Araj himself, and to take a shard of his phylactery. You've probably already seen him, lurking at the fountain in the center of town. Take my grenades with you.
