The part after finishing this quest is absolutely hilarious.

Tock Sprysprocket is able to bring a small gnome (yes, its possible!) back to life, who walks off before the quest giver can take readings and than spontaneously causes one of the biggest explosion I've ever witnessed in WoW.

Do this quest with A Job for the Multi-Bot from Engineer Grindspark, if you don't already have it. Then head southwest to get Dealing with the Fallout, from Corporal Fizzwhistle, behind the building with the mailbox outside.

Then simply run around The Toxic Airfield, dragging your Multi-Bot to the toxic geysers, killing all the Living Contamination and Toxic Sludge you encounter.

Stick around after turning the quest in for the amusing interlude described above.

This quest has no followup, but turning in Dealing With the Fallout leads to What's Keeping Jessup? from Captain Tread Sparknozzle, located by High Tinker Mekkatorque.

Also, by the time you get this quest - or maybe after turning it in, you should hopefully be level 3. Make sure to visit your class trainer to pick up their next quest and train your new ability.

Description

Most of us have seen the sickly and deranged gnomes suffering from exposure to the poisons and radiation of Gnomeregan. Eventually, they will devolve further, until they become mindless, but mostly harmless, puddles of toxic sludge. My research suggests that we may even be able to restore them from this state. Go to the Toxic Airfield to the south, subdue the toxic sludge I told you about, and bring back the possessions of the gnomes they once were.

Pins are the quest’s own POI points from the current retail client, projected onto the in-game zone map. The game marks one blob as the quest’s turn-in; the rest are objective areas. Points that fall outside a map’s window are dropped rather than guessed at.

Where this quest fits

Before this quest

Taken from the storyline's own step order.

  • A Job for the Multi-BotNew Tinkertown · Level 1-10

If the multi-bot works, it will help us do all kinds of jobs that are unpleasant or dangerous for us gnomes! After Thermaplugg detonated his irradiator at the end of Operation: Gnomeregan, toxic clouds and ooze began bubbling up at the old airfield south of town.

After this quest

Taken from the storyline's own step order.

  • Dealing with the FalloutNew Tinkertown · Level 1-10

Tock Sprysprocket has some crazy theory about these toxic sludges being the last remnants of gnomes, so my men have orders not to engage them for now. However, the Toxic Airfield, just south of us, is teeming with living contamination.

The storyline at a glance
