You can follow Malfurion and Tyrande outside the grove where he falls asleep because....reasons? The whole questline is a very confusing string of "Because it has to be this way"
Tyrande Whisperwind says: Sleep, my love. Until the forest calls once more.
Malfurion Stormrage says: Whatever comes, my love, remember: our bond is eternal.

If you had joined the Night Fae Covenant, the Winter Queen will say this when you go to convince her:
An oath made must be kept. As a member of my court, you know the cost to save the Child of Dreams was high, drawing from my own weakened essence.
Ardenweald may flourish now, but it did not, then. Why should I let her go, when so much was given? For non-Night Fae:
An oath made must be kept. It is my power that sustained the Child of Dreams when she was in deepest peril.
Why should I break that bond?
This quest is not an Alliance only quest. You can do this as Horde. The quest is showing on this page being Alliance version, but there is no Horde version as the quest is the same for both factions.

What to do
Description
Let us go into the Grove of Awakening. The Winter Queen is the only one who can transfer this bond from Ysera to me. I have faith that she will agree. She aided Ysera in a time of desperate need, and now Ysera can help us in turn. If the Winter Queen agrees, I expect that I will not be able to remain awake for long. The weight of the bond will be heavy to bear. In time, I hope that I may wake again and gaze upon the fully grown might of the new tree.

Pins are the quest’s own POI points from the current retail client, projected onto the in-game zone map. The game marks one blob as the quest’s turn-in; the rest are objective areas. Points that fall outside a map’s window are dropped rather than guessed at.

Where this quest fits
Before this quest
Taken from the storyline's own step order.
- The Price
I am eager to return to the Emerald Dream and defend the gardens from the Incarnates and their followers. But I cannot leave Ardenweald yet, not with my bond to the Winter Queen. I dare not ask anyone to do this, unless they accept the consequences. As I did.

Taken from the storyline's own step order.
- Step Into the Life
We mustn't delay. I can feel the energies of rebirth surging in me. I am ready to cross back into the Emerald Dream. From the realms of Death into Life. Follow me through the gate of Awakening, and we will race across the Dreamway to Ancient Bough.
