TheWoWDBThis is bugged for me. I'm already Renown 10 and supposedly unlocked Ancient Waygates III, but still never received this quest. I went down to talk with Thaelin Darkanvil just in case, but he doesn't have a quest for me.
UPDATE: December 2, 2022: My ticket was replied to! Looks like it'll be resolved next week with reset.
My intake: Hello. I am Renown 13 with the Expedition, but none of the Waygate ("A Dormant Discovery") or other quests have appeared for me, including, "A Mystery, Sealed" storyline with "The Sealed Door" starter.
Blizz reply: Thank you for your patience caused by the delay in reaching you. I am Specialist Games Master Layhcrum, I have been looking into the reason you contacted us.
I can see you have some concerns about the quest Dormant Discovery that should have been available when you hit the correct renown. We did confirm this was a bug and it has now been fixed. To get this working on our end we will need to do a server reset. Once this has happened you should be able to get this quest correctly :)

- When you use the Ancient Waygate you get the [spell=392960] debuf and cant use them for 30 mins
- It is Account Unlock achievement and all the Waygates will be unlocked for alts
So I just finished fiddling around with this quest on my main. Couldn't figure out why I couldn't get any quests, checked all the links to see if they had been completed and all came back 'false'. I checked all my level 70's and same thing. None of them had completed the pre or lead quests to start any of the Ancient waygate chain.
Simply put - I had a toon - I used a Level 70 boost on it. Found out the hard way, that during the boost - the waygates quest line is completed! except for the final quest of the series - An Ancient Awakening.
Once complete - all my other toons were now Waygate enabled. - maybe save someone same gray hair
