The pain of losing a dear pet is so great.... Despite having multiple pets along the years since I was born, this pain is as strong to this day.... Especially when my first dog died, I tried to cope his loss by getting the Jaina mount ( which I got it before SL). Quite the "prepare to cry" this questline.

What to do

StorylineThe Chieftain's Duty, step 9 of 13
Rewards28g 9s, 9,500 XP

Description

I do not know what to say. I had no idea that the chieftain's pain ran so deep. It makes sense. Ottuks are not pets to our people--especially not to hunters like our chieftain. They are our friends, our companions... and members of our families. Ipko was Tutaqan's first and only ottuk. Uktulut hunters hold this bond to be sacred. I will see that her passage to the place of our ancestors is a peaceful one.

Where to go

Pins are the quest’s own POI points from the current retail client, projected onto the in-game zone map. The game marks one blob as the quest’s turn-in; the rest are objective areas. Points that fall outside a map’s window are dropped rather than guessed at.

Where this quest fits

Before this quest

Taken from the storyline's own step order.

  • All But OneThe Waking Shores · Level 36-80

I have seen what you've done for the village. In easier times, I would have handled it, but... <Tutaqan glances towards the river, then back to you.> Some of our ottuks went missing recently. We believe they swam too close to the djaradin's territory. Several were recovered. None of them alive.

After this quest

Taken from the storyline's own step order.

  • In MourningThe Waking Shores · Level 36-80

This did not need to happen. Those cowardly djaradin... slaughtering our ottuks and leaving them for their twisted beasts to pick clean... I do not take Tutaqan's grief lightly, but I worry for the future of our people if he dwells in darkness and grief for too long. We need to act.
