When I was transported to arathi Highlands, I abaondoned the quest, which teleports you back to Bastion.

Before I accepted the quest again, I did the following

Game Menu (question mark or escape key) >> Options >> System (at the bottom) >> Network

In the Network menu, there are three options.

Optimize network for speed
Enable IPV6 when available
Advanced Combat logging

uncheck them all

Close out of Options menu and back into the game. [Click X on the top right, or close window]

Accept the quest, “He was my student”

Click on the giant mirror to be transported to the instance.

Worked for me after trying literally everything else.

As of the current patch, attempting to enter Uther's memory as instructed while War Mode is on will disconnect you, and when logging back in, your character will be very, very high above the Arathi Highlands, far above the flight limit, at the coordinates 85, 70.

Turning War Mode off allows the quest to be completed as normal.

Oct 2023,

If you fell from a great height and felt something was wrong...
1. Find NPC Zidormi in the same map to warp time.
2. Wait out till you are not flagged.
3. Abandon quest (which will port you back to Bastion).
4. Re-acquire the quest and re-do it.

(this time you should appear in front of Arthas)

  • Step Into the LightKorthia · Level 60

It is as I feared. This fragment of Uther's soul was darkened by the mourneblade that slew him. His memories are shattered and twisted. For Uther to move past his pain, to move past his grief, he must experience his past once again. But he does not have to do this alone.

After this quest

Taken from the storyline's own step order.

  • I Intend to Live ForeverKorthia · Level 60

Please, <name>. I am not finished. There is one more memory that I must see. One more that must be faced. It... it will not be easy. I will need support from all of you. But it must be done.
