A Paladin's Soul is a quest for level 60 in Korthia. It is step 1 of 15 in the A New Path storyline, the opening step. The quest's turn-in marker is in Bastion at 40.0, 20.0. It rewards 1 reputation reward, 8,150 experience and money.

Description

Bolvar Fordragon has seen visions of a vault hidden deep within Torghast where the Jailer keeps souls he deems valuable.

Uther was struck down by a mourneblade. When such a weapon is wielded with rage, it can shatter a soul into fragments.

If the Jailer holds a part of Uther's soul, it cannot be fully mended until the lost piece is restored.

Take this attuned shard to Torghast, <name>. It should guide you to the vault's location.

Find the lost fragment of Uther's soul so that he can be made whole.

Note for those on the quest: after beating the final Torghast boss and entering the portal, you may have a moment of confusion where you don't know what to do. Do NOT leave Torghast. Look around the room. You'll see souls floating off to each side. One of them is Uther's soul. Click on it to pick up the quest object. You may then leave Torghast safely.

For easy reference, here's a list of the souls visible inside the Ossuary of the Banished. These all appear to be victims of Arthas, though not all of these were explicitly slain by Frostmourne.

Eastern chamber:


  • The First Paladin - this is Uther, the reason we are there

  • The Betrayed Father - Arthas's father, King Terenas Menethil

  • The Blood-Queen - Blood-Queen Lana'thel

  • The Grand Magister - Grand Magister Belo'vir Salonar, Rommath's predecessor, and one of Lady Liadrian's mentors - who also saved her life when Arthas marched on the Sunwell by teleporting her away.

  • The Guardian of Naxxramas - possibly Sapphiron, or maybe Anub'arak

  • 5x A Forgotten Victim - presumably some random people Arthas has slain

Western chamber:


  • The Champion of Peace - Gavinrad the Dire, the leader of the Champions of Peace, a detachment of troops serving the Silver Hand

  • The Holy Lifebringer - Halahk the Lifebringer

  • The Golden King - king Anasterian Sunstrider, father of Kael'thas, slain by Arthas during his march to the Sunwell.

  • The Archmagus Mentor - Archmage Antonidas, mentor to Jaina Proudmoore, slain by Arthas when he and Kel'thuzad went after the Book of Medivh.

  • 5x A Forgotten Victim - presumably some random people Arthas has slain

For those of you who hate Torghast, rest easy - this is a super fast (20 minutes), simple run. Most mobs are 5k to 12k health with a couple bigger ones thrown in. You get lots of anima to spend on floor 3, then you walk up to the final boss and he's nothing special. just a beat down.

AFTER YOU KILL HIM ***CLICK*** on the ugly small smokey portal thingy to get into the soul area. On my toon Uther's soul was to the right and stood out a bit. Click on it. Make sure you get credit in your quest log for picking him up. Exit Torghast.

I picked up Marasimus as a Night Fae covenant helper while there. Cool. I like him. Other two toons received no helpers.

If you also have the Anima Salvage quest it might complete, depending on whether you are given enough mobs. It completed on 2 out of 3 for me.
