These are scattered throughout the cave, all the way to the end, so if for some reason you're sharing the cave with someone else, don't worry, there will be plenty for everyone.
While you're working on this quest in the cave, if you want to work your way all the way to the back/end of the cave, there will most likely be a rare spawn, [npc=1119].

The Frozen Artifacts appear to be bugged at the moment (5.0.5). Multiple attempts to loot them using various methods (right clicking, using the item from the inventory and from the quest helper) have proved fruitless, causing the ice block to fade away, and no loot window appear, when I move they simply re-appear. Dropping the quest and picking it back up, and logging in and out did not solve the issue either.
Frozen Artifacts in the beta are few. There are only about 5 up at once, all of which seem to spawn at the VERY back of the cave. I've been running around for about 10 minutes looking, and the first 5 I have still haven't respawned. This is definitely bugged(slightly).
17 minutes, bags full, tired of waiting. This quest is certainly bugged and is best skipped (if you've got BoA Gear).
All of Dun Morogh seems bugged, as it were.

What to do
Description
Mining wasn't the only thing going on in the quarry, you know. I led a team of Explorers' League excavators recovering priceless ancient artifacts. I managed to escape, but my colleagues were much deeper in the mine and didn't survive the initial trogg attack. They took great pride in their work and they risked their lives to learn more of our history. If you're going into the mines, take this pick with you and see if you can find anything in the digs the prospectors started.

Pins are the quest’s own POI points from the current retail client, projected onto the in-game zone map. The game marks one blob as the quest’s turn-in; the rest are objective areas. Points that fall outside a map’s window are dropped rather than guessed at.

Where this quest fits
Before this quest
Taken from the storyline's own step order.
- The Public Servant
As a member of the Senate and the Explorers' League, I've taken it upon myself to investigate conditions at the quarry. The troggs have run wild! They've made a mess of the Gol'Bolar quarry.
After this quest
Taken from the storyline's own step order.
- Dealing with the Surge
The elements are in turmoil, <class>. The cataclysm stirred up the long-dormant water spirits of Helm's Bed Lake, just to the south. They're angry, confused, and unwilling to hear my pleas.
