To find this go from quest giver and turn around.
Go through the tunnel directly behind you.
Once you come out turn right. If you see a white bear sitting on a small hill you are in the right area.

For those needing information on how this was played way back in Vanilla / Classic, I'll drip feed you for the sake of those who don't like being spoonfed:
(1) the NPC you are looking for is in fact deceased and is in the same area as the quest giver.
(2) From the quest giver try an "about face" of 180 degrees.
(3) Bear north-west from the quest giver. The body and his belongings are on the slope of a mound.
The next step involves taking out a difficult to solo NPC. Difficult if you are playing Vanilla/classic and thus are wearing questing commons. Aim to be at least level 10. You will need to take out two snow leopards one by one before you encounter the next quest NPC.
ALL other location information on this web page and in YouTube is totally WRONG for Vanilla/Classic as Blizzard have moved things around and altered the map somewhat.
For further clarification, you need to go through the tunnel you just came through. Also, the bear you'll see is named Mangeclaw.

What to do
Description
My friend and fellow Siege Engine pilot, Mori Hildelve, is lost in the hills. We were looking for a rare ore that's needed for a high-grade blastpowder, and during our search he drove his engine up a steep hill and busted it! Still convinced that ore was in these mountains, Hildelve charged me to guard our engines while he continued on foot. It's been days, and I've heard some beastly growls north of Helm's Bed Lake, west of the tunnel. Mori's tough as nails, but I'm worried. Please, {name}. Find him.

Taken from the storyline's own step order.
- A Pilot's Revenge
Hildelve wrote in his journal that he was attacked by Mangeclaw, a "huge Ice Claw Bear." He drove off the beast, but not before it mauled him savagely. Judging from the state of Hildelve's body, Mangeclaw must have later returned and killed him.
