Description

One thing you may have already discovered about this place: the Dragon Isles are vast.

Some of the drakes have an intense interest in exploring every corner and secret hiding place in this renewed land, even those places that are not readily reached from the ground. They are eager for a second set of eyes to aid them in their journey, and in trade will gladly bear a rider across the lands.

Speak with Lord Andestrasz, here in the Ruby Lifeshrine. He will explain more of what they intend.

For those with alts, given that Blizzard provides no in game indication of when the dragon riding is actually available... the moment your alt transitions to the Dragon Isles zone, you will be able to activate the Dragonriding Skill tree under the Dragon Isles Summary window. All the Dragon glyphs found across your account will be available for allocation at this point. Similarly, all the talents that you have learnt across the top row will be available.
Well done to Blizzard for the provision of this mechanism, I think that it's a great idea. Couple of marks off though for not notifying people of the option in-game.
Interestingly enough too, if you go to the nearby flight point, you will be able to immediately fly to Valdrakken and set your hearthstone there.

For those who might have an alt run through the first time and then try on a different one, you might not have the Renewed Proto-Drake put on your bar or in your bags.

Check your list of mounts and it should be at the top.

I know obvious things are obvious, but I could not find it for the life of me. At least this way if you have come looking for where this might be, check there before driving yourself crazy - like me... lol

If he disappears, do not abandon the quest. Look around and you should see him to the east of where he was before.

I took this quest, talked with Lord Andestrasz, clicked a dialogue option, and he disappeared. I abandoned the quest, and he reappeared. However, after I got the quest again, he was gone by the time I got back to him. I logged out and back in, and he was back in the spot that he was supposed to be. My party member also had him disappear the first time, but Lord Andestrasz was available for him when we returned.

Where this quest fits

Before this quest

Taken from the storyline's own step order.

  • The Mandate of the RedThe Waking Shores · Level 10-70

Our calling is care and compassion. We aid the other flights not only for their own sake, but for the sake of dragonkind as a whole. Perhaps speaking with the dragonspawn here at the Ruby Lifeshrine will help you understand us further.

After this quest

Taken from the storyline's own step order.

  • How to Glide with Your DragonThe Waking Shores · Level 10-70

Let us start with the basics. If you fly straight you will wear yourself out right now. Use gravity as an aid and aim slightly down to fly a long distance. The rings will give you the general angle that you should use for basic gliding.
