I encountered the issue where I couldn't use the item, so in chat I had to type:
/use lucky nose
this worked for me. note there is a cooldown between uses, so you have to wait until he stops glowing by his feet before the command will work again.
Seat of the Primus works pretty well, just hop in the transportation network portal and you've got a nice big flat roof to work with.
