You don't have to actually be moving in the mechano spider. You can just get out of it and fly to checkpoint 1, get back in it and get the checkpoint, get out of it and then go to checkpoint 2.

Brothers and Sisters of the mechanically inclined.
It is I Ianto CogSprocket come to warn you. This Device DEFIES PHYSICS.
DO NOT GO FOR A SWIM WITH THIS DEVICE. DO NOT DO IT FOR I DO NOT RECOMMEND.
For the Sake of science I (the marvelous CogSprocket) Took this device to water to test its buoyancy.
I approached the water after getting this baby up to her top speed (it was glorious).
The vast expanse of water beckoned with her glimmering (rust causing) splendor.
I located a stretch of cliff with an acceptable height to allow me full clearance to assist my entry (Must have been 5 feet high)
I managed a perfect Launch and approached the water rapidly prepared for a minor collision with the water (my heart skipped a beat for a brief moment).
Just before hitting i clenched my eyes shut tightly in anticipation of an event that never came.
I rapidly found myself DROPPING through the water as if it were air.
I still needed to breathe but it was as if the water tensionthat should have been was not (i was MINDBLOWN).
Physics went completely out the window. i was able to move around under water as though i was on dry land.
I NEARLY succumbed to lack of oxygen.
BEWARE taking this beauty for a dip least you replicate my Experiment.Experiment log 32445PZQ
Ianto Cogsprocket Signing off.
Pro Tip For this quest:
Just get out of the mount and if you have flying just fly to the checkpoints. Then in your bags, there is an item where you can mount the spider.
Easy Peasy :)

What to do
Description
There's still a lot of work to do, but it's running! We need to give the engine, brakes and gyro-balance actuator a good test. You want to take it out for a drive and see how well they work?

Where this quest fits
Before this quest
Taken from the storyline's own step order.
- Emission Free
We're going to need a few Empty Energy Cells to fill out the battery pack on the mount control assembly. See if you can find me these.
After this quest
Taken from the storyline's own step order.
- Knock His Bot Off
I need to rebuild the main powercore. It's a 500S Mekronic so I'll need the operational schematics to get the work done. Only person I know who has a copy of that is Bondo Bigblock. We're going to need Bondo's help to finish this. Maybe if you ask him, he'll lend us his schematics.
