Up to Snuff

Up to Snuff is a quest for level 10-30 in The Cape of Stranglethorn. It is step 38 of 62 in The Cape of Stranglethorn storyline. It rewards 2 reputation rewards, 4,100 experience and money. Completing it counts toward 1 achievement.

Description

Ah, the sea life. I ain't gonna say it's the good life, but it's my life.

When I get into port I like to find me a good bottle of grog and some high quality snuff. Nasty habits but what's a pirate without his vices, right?

So you can imagine how heartbroken I was to find out the herbalist here in town has gone and sold out of the stuff. Says his shipment got hijacked by those damned Bloodsail Raiders.

I bet a fearless <class> like you could convince 'em to share the goods, eh?

I have the same problem (patch 4.1) - the Bloodsail Raiders (and the rest of the Bloodsail mobs in the area) are all green to me - even though my rep says I'm "Hated". GM says he'll open a ticket with QA regarding the issue.

I tried:

1. Deleting the quest, logging out/in, and getting the quest again.
2. AOE'ing the mobs since I couldn't attack them directly (no effect)

Now, here's what worked for me:

  2. Go get quest "The Bane of Many A Pirate (hopefully you've not done it yet)

  4. Collect Bushel of Limes (boxes are near trees surrounding the ship)

  6. Each time you collect a Bushel of Limes, a Lime Thief will pop and attack you.

  8. There's a small chance (10%? 20%?) that the Lime Thief will drop snuff.

You'll collect your 5 crates of limes way before you get enough snuff (15 pieces) so you can just delete your limes from inventory and go collect some more to keep trying. Rinse, repeat until you have 15 pieces of snuff. Hopefully they'll fix this quest next patch.

I want to know details, <name>. Our supremacy over the Bloodsail is due largely in part to our stronghold here in Booty Bay, but intelligence also plays a critical role.

Avast! Who goes there? Argh, I am but useless without me special enchanted eye. Bad enough to have lost me eyes in battle in the first place! But by some stroke o' luck we docked in Menethil and a traveling wizard enchanted a special glass eye that let me see again.
