During this quest, the Town-in-a-Box is being assaulted by goblin zombies. If you hang around a bit, you'll hear some of the guards yell "Smoker!" A nod to Left 4 Dead.
They also yell "What do you think? Zombie kill of the week?" This is a reference to Zombieland.

Don't make the mistake of going back to the pygmy villiage. The volcano is up the path from the northeast of Town-in-a-Box. Can't miss it from the long trail of smoking goblins coming down the hill.
Be warned, the Goblin Zombies don't seem to attack you. It looks like they just gather around.
But make no mistake - they are attacking!
And if you don't deal with (or better yet simply avoid) them, you will take damage.

What to do
Description
A whole bunch of our people headed up to the top of the volcano to mount a counter-offensive. There's something horrible brewing up there on the Lost Peak. They're waiting for you before they make any moves against the pygmies. Those evil little things turned a lot of us into zombies! {name}, save us!

<name>, you have to get back to the Town-In-A-Box and warn them about the goblin zombies up in the volcano's caldera!

Taken from the storyline's own step order.
- Zombies vs. Super Booster Rocket Boots
Those zombies that got past us are nothing compared to the numbers waiting just through the pass. If we don't deal with them soon, the pygmy witch doctors are going to send all of them against the town, and even the cannons down there won't be able to handle that many!
