Completing this quest (and killing all the stuff required) does not decrease your reputation with the Bloodsail Buccaneers.

This might change in the future though. Currently, killing the Bloodsail Raiders doesn't drop rep with BSB, but killing the Bloodsail Corsairs do.

for anyone stopping in BEFORE completing this/choosing a reward:

to the best of my knowledge (and going through threads here & on other sites), Revilgaz's Cutlass is a *unique* cutlass/sword model in game. There are scimitars, rapiers, etc. but ONLY this one looks like this.

So if you are a sword-wielder, consider that, esp. with 4.3 on the way. I am praying I haven't done the quest yet on my rogue, because I am trying to 'mog him into a cavalier/ city-duelist type - but not a pirate/swashbuckler. This is a perfect main-hand model; I just need some kind of main-gauche and a proper Musketeers-style plumed hat. :)

update: I tried checking both Rev & Seahorn, but both only had flavor-text comments. I figured I had just done them a long time ago, and forgot.

Then, I found out there are pre-req quests: you will need to first do "Sea Wolf" MacKinley (2 quests) and First Mate Crazz's tasks. Also, while doing these, you will be given a reward option of a Pirate's Musket ([item=61576] ; a model you won't see again until lvl 63).

From what I can tell, this whole questline has been re-written/re-tuned, so don't get that 'Ugh! Not this stuff again!' feeling, if you did it on another character a long time ago.

To get this quest you must do all the Bloodsail pirate infiltration quests and trigger the invasion event in BB.

You need to do all the quests it outlines on the link below, and TURN IN the quest "Return to Revilgaz". Soon after, Fleet Master Seahorn will give you "Turning the Brashtide".

What to do

StorylineThe Cape of Stranglethorn, step 61 of 62

Description

The Brashtide are everywhere! The Baron's Booty Bay Bruisers are no match for their sheer numbers, I'm afraid. While you're down here in the fray, why don't you help me get rid of a few of them? When you're done, don't bother coming back here. I'll probably be pretty busy.

Where this quest fits

Before this quest

Taken from the storyline's own step order.

  • The Damsel's (Bad) LuckThe Cape of Stranglethorn · Level 10-30

I heard that this ship here is the Damsel's Luck. Didn't you used to be the captain of that thing? You must know your way around it, then. The Brashtide are our main concern, but we still don't want to take an unnecessary pummeling from those cannons of theirs.

After this quest

Taken from the storyline's own step order.

  • Bloodsail's EndThe Cape of Stranglethorn · Level 10-30

We've nearly won the day, largely thanks to you. One task remains, however... kill Fleet Master Firallon. It looks like most of Firallon's crew is already dead, but I know that old sea dog well enough to know that he's not done yet.
