The name of this World Boss (Flotsam), as well one of his abilities ([spell=220295]) reference terms used by sailors. As per Wikipedia:
- Flotsam is floating wreckage of a ship or its cargo.
- Jetsam is part of a ship, its equipment, or its cargo that is purposely cast overboard or jettisoned to lighten the load in time of distress and is washed ashore.
In pop culture, Flotsam and Jetsam are also eels, and minions of Ursula, the villain in Disney's The Little Mermaid.
This is one of the World Bosses coming in Legion. They've really gone all out on launch, with 11 different World Bosses!
Each week a different World Boss is active, and will have an associated Epic World Quest on the map.Once killed, any drops will appear directly in your bags - you do not loot the boss for drops. After the kill, you also get the opportunity to bonus roll with a [currency=1273], if you have any. You can only obtain loot from a World Boss once per week.
Note that each boss drops gear from a specific slot, and each drops a distinct type of relic (except [npc=112350], who doesn't drop a relic). This makes it easy to figure out which bosses you want to farm to fill out a particular slot.There is an achievement for killing 8 out of 10 World Bosses - Unleashed Monstrosities. This achievement will unlock a colour variation for your Valorous artifact appearance.

The game data tunes Flotsam for levels 10 to 45, Legion content.
The map marks it with vignette 1,245, which the client hides once hidden tracking quest 41126 is complete. In game, /run print(C_QuestLog.IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(41126)) prints true when that quest is flagged for your character.

Flotsam is the kill target of A Dark Tide, an Epic Elite World Quest added in Legion. The game draws the world quest marker in Highmountain at 49.2, 7.4. The closest other world-quest target on the Highmountain map is Crab Rider Grmlrml (Rare), about 450 yards to the west. Overview
As the fight progresses, Flotsam hurls Jetsam at random targets. Once the boss has full energy, he uses Getsam to damage all enemies and destroys any Jetsam on the field, inflicting additional damage to nearby targets. Flotsam also uses Yaksam to summon Regurgitated Marshstompers that will fixate random targets and continually spray Oozing Bile.
