I am surprised this wasn't brought up. This is a gear check at the beginning of the expansion. Interesting! I went into it with ilvl 50 gear and got defeated. You will need about ilvl 80 to do it. There isn't much gear to be had via questing before that, so you can either hit the AH, do some dungeons (which have a min ilvl too), do timewalking dungeons if possible, or go back to an earlier expansion. I came back at level 52 and ilvl 80 and it was fine.

Description
The trial to come will test you in ways you can likely only imagine. I can see both from your past and from your demeanor that you are no stranger to combat. I would like to know where your strengths lie so we may address any weaknesses we find before your trial. You will find three praetorian soldiers created for this purpose, each stronger than the last. Defeat them all and I will consider your strength sufficient to continue at this time.
