Energy drops from mobs and from the clickable towers. The crates are small and easy to miss, and are all located ONLY in the north part of the marked quest area. They're marked on your map but so are all the clickable towers so it can be confusing. Uploaded a screenshot of the crates.

Mine was initially bugged - abandon and restart if you can't see what you need to do. Quite obvious thereafter.

Description

My people need energy to live. We can harvest it from the pylons that were set out to collect it or hunt the energy scavengers that have siphoned off what is ours. Let's gather today's meager bounty of energy and then distribute it to my people. If we are to go to war together, it will help us both to know the character of your allies.
