Dialogue

"Doc" Schweitzer says: Flintlocke, if we have a big giant cannon, why don't we just shoot ... a cannonball?
Fargo Flintlocke says: Bah, predictable! They'll see it comin'!
Fargo Flintlocke says: But once ol' Bittermen here blasts through their bulkhead in a hail of splintered wood, blood, and phlegm then starts crawlin' across the deck with both legs broken, oh aye, they'll not see THAT comin' by a sweet mile, no sir!
Fargo Flintlocke says: It's almost here. Get ready!
Fargo Flintlocke says: She's here! Get in that cannon, damnit! Get ready to fire!

That coupled with his assurances of trying "a technique handed down ta me by my pappy, from his pappy, from his pappy, shortly before he got blowed up" firmly convinced me that this was a good idea!

I initially had a bunch of problems with this quest. It was putting me in the cannon, but not shooting me to the ship. (It was either shooting me sort of nearby, or just knocking me right out of the cannon and leaving me by the quest giver.) After messing around for a while to figure out what I could be doing wrong, I decided to abandon the quest and pick it up again. This worked for me, and I got shot to the ship the very first time. If you're having problems getting the cannon to shoot you, I'd suggest dropping and picking it back up.

After I finally got credit for the wait to be launched part of the quest, I had problems with the destroying the ship part. Initially I planted the bomb on the top of the ship (which it let me do) and then jumped off during the countdown. This did not work. To get credit you need to place the bomb on the bottom part of the ship, move to the balcony, and wait until it throws you off. Do not jump, just let it knock you into the water. (You won't die.)

Note that after you've gotten credit for the waiting to be launched part, you can revisit the ship using your mount rather than dealing with the buggy cannon again.

I, too, was having trouble figuring out where to put the bomb. I couldn't find anywhere...

It looks like you have to be standing in the nook under the staircase in the hold of the zepplin, and that is the only place where you can place the explosives. Worked perfectly soon's I was in that little niche.

Description

Lookie here, {name}. I found the biggest gun in Highbank! We're gonna try a technique handed down ta me by my pappy, from his pappy, from his pappy, shortly before he got blowed up. It's called the "{class}-shot." You take a {race} {class}, and load him inta a gigantic cannon, and then ya - oh relax. This usually works. Take these explosives, then wait here next ta me. As soon as that blimpy comes around I'll blast you onto tha deck. Plant the explosives in 'er belly and, oh I dunno, make it up as you go.
