piece of advice, kill some mobs in the area, with the sea dogs around you, the mobs die in seconds and you still get alot of xp.

If you are breaking the cacoons with your normal melee attack it will not work. Use an ability attack and it should work then. I had this issue and couldn't find anything about it so just putting it here in case someone else runs into it.
Try dueling someone while these Sea Dogs are with you. It's truly hilarious. :)

What to do
Description
Some would say that we are lucky to be alive. Those people would be idiots. At least had we died we would not have had to face the Warchief's wrath. Alas, what's done is done! Now we must attempt to regain our lost honor. The third ship in our fleet sank off the coast of the Skittering Dark, northwest of here. Those that made it to shore quickly found themselves swarmed by the giant spiders of the area and encased in webbing. If there are survivors we must free them! Go, {name}! To the Skittering Dark!

Pins are the quest’s own POI points from the current retail client, projected onto the in-game zone map. The game marks one blob as the quest’s turn-in; the rest are objective areas. Points that fall outside a map’s window are dropped rather than guessed at.
