Leave No Stone Behind

Leave No Stone Behind is a quest for level 73-75 in The Ringing Deeps. It is step 8 of 20 in the By Candlelight storyline. The quest's turn-in marker is in The Ringing Deeps at 53.5, 29.2. It rewards 9,900 experience and money.

Description

Many earthen fell when the kobolds took this mine.

Worse, those who fell were left to crumble where they dropped. There was no attempt to recover them. We couldn't provide closure or respect their memories. Why? Why did we forsake the fallen?

We will not fail them again, <name>. Gather the identification plaques of those we lost, so we may commemorate them properly.

If you take the hex codes on each Earthen Identification Plaque, organize them by the Mark number of their associated Earthen, you get 0985e438 1103a572 2672b138 3481a662.

In ASCII/Unicode, that's gibberish.

In UTF-8, it's 8r8b

In UTF-16, it comes out to 爸戸, which is Japanese for "Papa".

If you add the awakening numbers between the strings, which only go up to 9, it comes out as 0985e438 23718623 1103a572 06271002 2672b138 03751972 3481a662 12810889

This makes no sense in any conversion.

No, none of it makes any sense to me, either.

  • Kobold ShoulderThe Ringing Deeps · Level 73-75

The first step to stemming our losses and retaking the mines is straightforward, if unpleasant. Without minions, this Candle King will be less of a threat to Gundargaz. See if you can reduce the swarm, <name>, before hostilities escalate further.

After this quest

Taken from the storyline's own step order.

  • Death and WaxesThe Ringing Deeps · Level 73-75

Kobolds take candles seriously. Wax, even more. More important than gold. More important than freedom! We steal candles from Candle King. We make him look weak. Bully that looks weak loses control. Gets dead! Also means we not have to wait out here in dark until get eaten. Hurry!
