Shadows in the Mists

Shadows in the Mists is a quest for level 10-45 in Stormheim. It is step 2 of 5 in The Fate of Tideskorn Harbor storyline. The quest's turn-in marker is in Stormheim at 58.9, 42.8. It rewards 1 reputation reward, 6,150 experience and money.

Description

Many of the Kvaldir here in the bay are former denizens of this harbor, cursed by the sea-witch Helya to do her bidding for all time.

The ones you read about, they still walk the stagnant waters. They could be given respite, should a kind soul bring it to them at the tip of a blade.

So tell me, how kind is your soul?

Just FYI - these guys respawn very quickly, probably adjusted to the beginning rush of questers in this area. By the time you eat something and bandage the remaining damage, you're right in the middle of the battle again. Of course in theory you'd leave the area after beating one of these guys in case he has any vengeful relatives but since the whole area is swarming with unfriendlies, that's not easy unless you've got stealth or Shadowmeld. Going for a swim can sometimes help. Kind of like the Shadowmoon Peninsula - a target-rich environment.

Before this quest

  • Remnants of the PastStormheim · Level 10-45

<The journal entry appears hastily written.> I do not know what has become of my village. Ever since the mists engulfed the harbor, my kinsfolk have changed. Some have grown violent and savage, while others have fallen into madness. Many have ventured into the mists and have yet to return.

After this quest

Taken from the storyline's own step order.

  • Scavenging the ShallowsStormheim · Level 10-45

The kvaldir exist to spite Odyn, and it is here their spiteful work is done. They rob the souls of the living - the souls not yet judged - thus robbing Odyn of his champions. They bring them here to transport to Helya, though the mists obscure any indications of how. You seem to fare the mists well.
