Level 98 rogue. Used blind on the familiar then killed Sun-Sage Rathyx. Still a tough fight but blind takes the familiar out of the action for up to a minute... just do not damage the familiar till you kill Sun-Sage Rathyx.

Had no trouble at all with several classes but ran into a problem with my 95 rogue. You can't kill the familiar any longer, so you can't get to Rathyx without throwing something at him. Of course that elimintes the rogue's stealthed opening move and although I got very close twice, it wasn't close enough.
OK, the Time-Constrained Player can't try a normal quest more than twice, so it's time to move on. This is where these linked chains of quests really move into the fail locker. I'll bet there are a number of DKs out there that actually don't exist because players of lesser skill or lesser patience just decided the hassle wasn't worth it or was too boring after the first shot.
I understand that the story line is a big deal and completely agree -I love the story lines. But I play multiple classes and doing a specific quest like this one, where my Prot Warrior dices Rathyx into parakeet sushi in nanoseconds and my well-geared Combat Rogue dosen't have a chance, just doesn't make sense to me. Forget about mages - I don't bother with solo quests any more but just head into the dungeons and have a great time. It's fun being #1 DPs.
Maybe we just need to admit there is no real parity among different classes.
Or the programmers think it's fun to stack the deck against some classes with the quests. Yeah, if you don't have a distance weapon or a pet or a friend to help you with this quest you're screwed

What to do
Description
The Adherents of Rukhmar are the ruling body atop the spires. Their influence is absolute. Their proclamations taken as the will of Rukhmar Herself. The herald leading this purge is surely carrying out such orders - likely no more than a list of names and places they plan to erase. That list would prove invaluable in the days to come. Acquire it for me, and shut that herald up!
Where to go
Pins are the quest’s own POI points from the current retail client, projected onto the in-game zone map. The game marks one blob as the quest’s turn-in; the rest are objective areas. Points that fall outside a map’s window are dropped rather than guessed at.

Where this quest fits
Before this quest
Taken from the storyline's own step order.
- Adherents of the Sun God
The arakkoa from Skyreach are all ruled by the Adherents of Rukhmar. They revile those of us who bear the Curse of Sethe, and decree that we must be purged in the name of their sun god. Soon their gaze will turn to lands beyond Arak. Challenge their warriors.
After this quest
Taken from the storyline's own step order.
- The Crone
Do you remember our greeting, <name>? "Shadows gather when the raven swallows the day." It is more than an old verse - it is a call to action. Followers of the old ways are gathering, and I must join them. You are needed, too, I should think Follow this road down to Crow's Crook.
