Be warned, if you don't do this quest before you find the NPC Nighteyes in the Menagerie area, you won't be able to do the quests that come after it. I was on this quest and found Nighteyes in a pond in front of the Menagerie area and he gave me the quest to free the menagerie animals, and then to free the devilsaur while I still had this quest in my log. So after I finally got around to turning in "Scouting the Crimson Thicket", I was not able to get another quest after it. So there's about three quests I missed entirely due to this. So be warned.
