When killing the big snailes, make sure to use the quest item on them. Large bug bits. Appears in the quest list when you target an eligible snail

Anyway you can bargain him down to 50 bits and 7 or 8 shrooms
You need a lot more, but 76.91, 78.51 has a little overhang with spiderwebs that has the gnat swarms/grubs/moths all over it. Good place to start.
