It might be inappropriate to post this; as what I'm going to post is a bug or a glitch of the system to make this quest faster.

The rope is attached to the last target you click after you cast the rope item.

You can start casting the rope on the dead thunderlizard in front of you but if you click the other dead thunderlizard far away from you before casting is over, the rope will be attached to the thunderlizard that is far away from you but you will still get credit for doing the quest.

As a result, the dead thunderlizard in front of you won't despawn, thus you can complete the quest without moving.

What makes this more buggy is that the rope can be attached to the fish as well using this method. You will still get credit for doing the quest even if the rope is attached to the fish.

What to do

StorylineDurotar, step 28 of 33
Rewards10g 50s, 4,100 XP

Description

Our army needs water, and luckily the elements gave us plenty of that when the cataclysm hit. The water that filled up the canyon to the southwest should do the trick. Unfortunately, the corpses of thunder lizards still sit at the bottom of the canyon, and their electrical discharges are a bit too dangerous. I've got grunts that can lift them out of the water, but we need someone agile enough to attach the other end of the rope. Are you my man, {name}?

Where to go

Pins are the quest’s own POI points from the current retail client, projected onto the in-game zone map. The game marks one blob as the quest’s turn-in; the rest are objective areas. Points that fall outside a map’s window are dropped rather than guessed at.

Where this quest fits

Before this quest

Taken from the storyline's own step order.

  • Ignoring the WarningsDurotar · Level 1-30

Ignore the shaman, soldier. Certain powers-that-be within the Horde demand that I keep him with me, but I assure you, that Thrall-loving farseer truly sees no farther than the borders of this hut. Elementals war against one another to the west of here.

After this quest

Taken from the storyline's own step order.

  • Sent for HelpDurotar · Level 1-30

You, <race>, stop a minute. My boss Spiketooth sent me to look for help and supplies. You don't appear to be a merchant, but you can probably still help him out. He's just to the southeast of here, next to the crashed cart. Oh, and tell him I sent you...
