I did this once with Pinky already getting beat on and didn't get any credit. I left the pen area, came back and hit him first before anyone else or the NPCs could and I got credit. I'm not sure if you need to get the first hit in or if you the you need to start it off (when i found him getting beat on he was at 92% health so i don't think it was not getting enough of a percent of damage in on him).
I'd be interested in finding out what caused that since i have a lot more toons to level through here.
Good luck and I hope it doesn't glitch out on anyone else like that. (also when i left the pen after getting credit i was stuck in combat for a full 2 minutes having combat sound effects going off for nothing. ping was at 22 ms, so it wasn't lagging)
It wasn't the best idea to google this quest name without the "A"...
If Pinky isn't in the pen right near the quest giver, just wait a minute or two for him to respawn so you can do the quest. I ran around looking for him, only to find him right where he should have been a couple of minutes later.
