Death Motes

Death Motes is a quest for level 60 in The Maw, added in Shadowlands. It rewards 1 reputation reward.

Description

I have a task for you, Maw Walker.

Souls deemed suitable for service among the Mawsworn are broken down to their barest essence. The resulting creature forms a black shade, devoid of all individual will.

It is a tragic end.

I wish to better understand this process--what is it about a soul that causes this transformation?

Fragments of broken souls rain down across Ruin's Cradle. Bring me some of them, so that I might learn more about our common adversaries.

For this quest you need to click on little white orbs that appear in the quest area. Here is a screenshot showing what these orbs look like. In this image my coordinates are 29.9, 23.2 in the Maw. Personally I didn't find this quest to be too bad, and when I did it the orbs respawned relatively quickly after I clicked on them so I was able to click on the same orb again.

I found 2 Death Mote spawns very close together (~58 yd) in a (mostly) unguarded area.
The Motes respawn every ~12 sec.
There is a Mawsworn Outrider that passes by every couple of minutes.
If you stand on the first waypoint or on it's NNW side you will be out of reach of the Outrider's detection.
There is no safe place to stand right near the second waypoint but you can move towards the first waypoint to increase your distance enough from the Outrider's path to be safe.
