Distant Echoes

Distant Echoes is a quest for level 80 in The Maw. It is step 3 of 12 in the Paths Forward storyline. The quest's turn-in marker is in The Maw at 23.4, 21.2. It rewards 11,750 experience and money.

Description

Can you hear it? There's a strange sound echoing in the distance. Given where we are, I would assume it's a trick. Or worse, a trap. But it feels...

I don't know how to describe it, but I feel calmer for hearing it. Like I'm in control.

This is going to sound mad, but I think--I think we should follow it. I don't know where it could be coming from, but my instincts are telling me to trust it. We should follow its trail.

Don't even bother with the proximity indicator in the game's UI. It flutters all over the place, especially when entering and exiting combat. Just follow the coordinates, in order, from those that have shared. Also don't get too hung up on the blue zone marked as an area boundary where the quest can be completed. It might lead you to not want to explore where you need to finish the quest. Just go to these way points and interact with what you find.

Where to go

Pins are the quest’s own POI points from the current retail client, projected onto the in-game zone map. The game marks one blob as the quest’s turn-in; the rest are objective areas. Points that fall outside a map’s window are dropped rather than guessed at.

Where this quest fits

Before this quest

Taken from the storyline's own step order.

  • To Cleanse Shadow's StainThe Maw · Level 80

These monstrosities certainly wasted no time once they arrived. They are snatching up souls left and right and drowning them in void magics. Take my holy symbol. It should be potent enough to drive away the shadows that cling to any lingering souls.

After this quest

Taken from the storyline's own step order.

  • Chaos ControlThe Maw · Level 80

These are no mere embodiments of Void. They move with precision and purpose. They have taken up a defensive position within the Tremaculum. No doubt they intend to expand their presence and shore up their defenses, now that they have a foothold. All the better.
