Network Insecurity

Network Insecurity is a quest for level 88-90 in Voidstorm. It is step 7 of 14 in The Night's Veil storyline. The quest's turn-in marker is in Voidstorm at 36.3, 80.5. It rewards 12,850 experience and money.

Description

Judging by the design and the strength of this holokey's energy, it must be used to encrypt important communications.

Let us try this lead. See if it's compatible with any of the consoles you find around the refinery. Given the damage it's taken, we'll have to piece together whatever scraps of information we can.

For the final message, instead of getting a message you get a powerful enemy. I made the mistake of going into an alcove to assess the situation only to see the enemy vanish before I attacked. At this point, you will have difficulty completing the quest because you have to kill that enemy to finish the quest. I waited hoping for someone else to come and summon the enemy but eventually the enemy reappeared without another person coming for the final message. I killed the enemy and that finished the quest.

Where to go

Pins are the quest’s own POI points from the current retail client, projected onto the in-game zone map. The game marks one blob as the quest’s turn-in; the rest are objective areas. Points that fall outside a map’s window are dropped rather than guessed at.

Ethereals seek corners of the cosmos to drain of potent nether. Arcane, Void, fel--to them, it matters only the yield. And we have a rich vein to work with. Now, slay those who possess that energy: wild arcane elementals from their pipes, or their ethereal harvesters flush with energy.

When that shield goes down, Xal'atath's forces will be upon us in droves. If I'm going to detonate those manacells from afar, I'll need an opening. Thin the Devouring Host of their strongest, and the rest of Xal'atath's lackeys will be easier to fight off.
