Even after repairing my gear multiple times I did not manage to get credit. I Solved it by equipping some non heirloom pieces. Might just be enough to unequip things.

Does not faction cross-complete. For quest completionist purposes, you'll have to do this new quest on both alliance and horde.
^ This -- If you can't complete the quest remove your heirloom pieces and the quest will complete. I only had to take off head, chest, back, shoulders and neck oddly enough, even though I still had my weapon, pants and trinkets equipped.

What to do
Description
Your gear isn't looking too great from your last excursion. Speak to Quartermaster Richter to get it repaired.
Where to go
Pins are the quest’s own POI points from the current retail client, projected onto the in-game zone map. The game marks one blob as the quest’s turn-in; the rest are objective areas. Points that fall outside a map’s window are dropped rather than guessed at.

Where this quest fits
Before this quest
Taken from the storyline's own step order.
- Stocking Up on Supplies
Quartermaster Richter was able to scavenge supplies from the wreckages on this island. Why don't you visit her and see if she has anything that you need? You'll want to be well equipped for whatever we encounter next.
After this quest
Taken from the storyline's own step order.
- To Darkmaul Citadel
We've rescued everyone except for the expedition's captain. Lindie's Scout-o-Matic spotted her just outside Darkmaul Citadel. Meredy has come up with an... interesting plan to rescue the captain. It may be our only chance. Come.
