This quest along with all the others on the ship currently having a rather annoying bug. When you use a AOE spell, Like a DK's Howling blast, it will affect and engage everything within range, regardless of what level below or above it is. Resulting in rather heavy pulls.
Place 4 [npc=134980] in The Abyssal Melody ship, one rod is on the deck others are inside the ship on the mid and bottom levels.

What to do
Description
This depravity goes against every oath we take as tidesages. To protect our people... to guide and sustain them... to make our ships strong. This is nothing but darkness. It must all be destroyed. Board the Abyssal Melody and place these focusing rods at any critical points you find. I will prepare the ritual.

- From the Maw of Madness
Sam is still out there somewhere. We can't just leave him to die! If he wasn't in the assembly yard, he must be on that ship. You have to find him!
After this quest
Taken from the storyline's own step order.
- Storm's Vengeance
I know not what horrors await us ahead, but the Abyssal Melody must never follow its sister into the Shrine of the Storm. We will deny these monsters all that they have wrought here by burning it with the very magic they seek to corrupt. The ritual is ready, but requires a conduit to stabilize.
