Hyrcyne+162via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

If you're like me and you're interested into the six world bosses that drop mounts, then let me help you. I've written this guide so that people can effectively farm those mounts on a weekly basis. Enjoy! (Updated in Dragonflight 10.0, reach out to Hyrcyne#0405 on Discord if you have any extra info).

Good news, everyone!

The drop chances for Son of Galleon's Saddle, Reins of the Heavenly Onyx Cloud Serpent, Reins of the Cobalt Primordial Direhorn, Reins of the Thundering Cobalt Cloud Serpent, and Solar Spirehawk have been greatly increased.

Preparation

Before you even launch the game, I highly recommend you download the addon Worldboss Timers (WBT). This will keep track of the respawn timers of the world bosses, and other rares that can potentially drop mounts such as [npc=73167] or the [npc=69769]s. You can also share the data with other people using the addon, or get data shared to you. Very useful to have and it allows you to do other things such as watching a show, without fearing of missing a kill.

Another addon that I like is Rarity. This will keep track of the attempts you have on a boss.

Once you're all set, I recommend setting your Hearthstone in [zone=6141] or [zone=6142]. This will give you a quick access to Pandaria, where four of the world bosses are located. As for Rukhmar, you can build the [building=37] and make yourself a permanent portal to Spires of Arak using 25 [item=117491].

Finally, the last step needed before actually killing the bosses, is to get some bonus roll coins. Sadly, [item=116771] and [item=174842] are not bonus rollable, but the Pandaria world boss mounts are. You will need:

20000 [currency=777] and 400 [currency=738]. You can obtain both of those under an hour killing [npc=72777]s on Timeless Isle (around 64, 71).

Once you're done killing frogs, go check [npc=73305] before leaving the island and buy 20 [currency=752]. This will allow you to bonus roll on both [npc=69099] and Oondasta. Afterwards, head to Townlong Steppes visit [npc=64607] and buy 20 [currency=697] from him. Those will allow you to bonus roll on Sha of Anger and [npc=62346].

You are now prepared!

World Bosses

Here's the list of all the world bosses that drop mounts, their locations, and additional info:

Sha of Anger spawns in Kun-Lai Summit at 54, 63 and drops [item=87771].
He spawns every 10 to 20 minutes, and there's an animation on the ground that appears a couple of seconds before he spawns. He yells something that you can hear in the whole zone when he's active. You need to be at least level 35 to loot this boss. Killing him will award you with Settle Down, Bro.

[npc=62346] spawns in Valley of the Four Winds at 71, 64 and drops [item=89783].
He spawns every 15 minutes. You can hear from across the zone Chief Salyis yells ''Loot and pillage, bwhahaha!'' whenever the boss spawns. You need to be at least level 35 to loot this boss. You will get Extinction Event from defeating him.

Oondasta spawns on Isle of Giants at 50, 54 and drops [item=94228].
He spawns every 15 minutes. As of 8.2, he's also tameable by hunters, which makes the boss despawns and you'll have to wait another 15 minutes again. While this is very frustrating, there's nothing you can really do and if you're a hunter looking to tame Oondasta, please do so when there's no one else waiting for the boss. You need to be at least level 35 to loot this boss. Downing Oon will get you Millions of Years of Evolution vs. My Fist.

[npc=69099] spawns on Isle of Thunder at 60, 37 and drops [item=95057].
He spawns every 10 to 20 minutes right in front of the [zone=6622] raid entrance. He spawns in the sky, and can sometimes be hard to target right away. Hunters are also able to tame this guy in Shadowlands. You need to be at least level 35 to loot this boss. He shouts ''I am born of thunder!'' when he spawns, and gives Praise the Sun! when killed.

Rukhmar spawns in Spires of Arak at 37, 39 and drops [item=116771].
She spawns every 15 minutes next to one of [zone=6988]'s platform on the mountain's side. She is usually flying across the zone when unpulled. I would suggest either waiting on the ground under exactly where she spawns, or on the platform. You can bonus roll this boss, but cannot get the mount from it, only giving you one attempt per character each week. Hunters looking to tame her should instead head inside Skyreach and tame [npc=76143], saving precious time to mount collectors while also not be bothered in the process of taming. You may need to be at least level 30 to loot this boss. Defeating Rukhmar also gives So Grossly Incandescent.

Dunegorger Kraulok spawns in Vol'dun at 44, 55 and drops [item=174842].
Kraulok spawns in the middle of the desert and he only spawns when his WQ is active. Unlike other world bosses, he also has a very short respawn timer (around 1 minute). He is part of the world boss rotation of BfA, which means that he's only available once every six weeks. You may need to be at least level 30 to loot this boss, and his mount is most likely not bonus rollable. While Horde players can simply fly to Vol'dun once they unlocked the continent, Alliance players will have to start their war campaign and choose Vol'dun as a foothold (ideally, or fly from any other Zandalar zones they have unlocked). He is also part of the Unbound Monstrosities achievement.

Tips

Here are some tips to make this grind a bit less boring than it is, or to help you do it more efficiently.

  • Preferably do something else while waiting on respawns. Having a second monitor to watch shows and videos is BiS to camp these bosses.

  • If you're unsure about whether or not you killed a boss this week, you can check in the Raid Info window (O/Friend List) -> Raid -> Raid Info. If you see the boss names in white, it means you're already locked that week.

  • Most world bosses will die very fast, especially when there's a lot of people camping them. I suggest making a macro* to instantly target and tag a boss.

  • Don't forget your bonus roll coins! These double your chance at getting one of those elusive mounts. You can hold 20 of each, and it takes less than an hour to obtain them.

  • Don't give up! These mounts have pretty bad drop rates, it may take a lot of time before looting your first one.

  • Got gold? Don't forget to check the Black Market Auction House. All of them with the exception of [item=174842] can be found there.

  • Turn off Warmode. Surely you don't want to get ganked right before a spawn... right?

  • Turn off Chromie Time if you're not at max level.

  • If you have a high number of alts, you can park them at the world bosses, if you're not actively playing them.
