Flight Training 101

Flight Training 101 is a quest for level 80 in Isle of Dorn. It is step 12 of 17 in the Ties That Bind storyline. The quest's turn-in marker is in Isle of Dorn at 35.0, 72.2. It rewards 11,750 experience and money.

Description

Now that all of our recruits are present, it's high time we took to the air. See what I did there? High time? No?

Right then. We'll be puttin' these rookies through their paces. Startin' with the basics of aerial maneuverin' at speed, we'll do our best to simulate the kind of precision flyin' we might expect below ground.

After that, we'll see what these rooks can really do--an I think Thrall and Lufsela have somethin' special cookin'.

If, like me, you pick up the quest, but don't start it, the coordinates for the Shraubendre is 28.94, 61.62. I picked up the quest and logged for the night in Dornogal and the quest refused to show up on my map when I went to finish it.

If Flight Training 101 bugs out just restart it.

I chose the Skyriding option each time. The first time only my keyboard turn keys worked but the mouse input would not register.

I simply had to land, dismount, and then restart from the storm mount once again. You may also need to drop and retake the quest if simply dismount and restarting fails.

Good luck!

Where to go

Pins are the quest’s own POI points from the current retail client, projected onto the in-game zone map. The game marks one blob as the quest’s turn-in; the rest are objective areas. Points that fall outside a map’s window are dropped rather than guessed at.

Where this quest fits

Before this quest

Taken from the storyline's own step order.

  • StraysIsle of Dorn · Level 80

Kurdran Wildhammer has come to train the new Stormriders in aerial maneuvers. Thrall says his clan rides gryphons--much like the Stormriders ride stormrooks--so he should be of great help to us. Unfortunately, a few of our new recruits seem to have, uh, wandered off with their stormrooks.

After this quest

Taken from the storyline's own step order.

  • Flight Training 102Isle of Dorn · Level 80

Dunnae think I had nae noticed those rooks spittin' lightnin'. Sure beats tossin' hammers. But it won't mean nothin' if the Stormriders can't hit what they're fightin'. Let's test their aim. Got some gnomish contraptions here that'll project easy targets for practice.
