I had an issue where i could not complete this quest (was stuck on 7/8 trainees sparred) regardless of how many I sparred with. I was able to complete this quest by completing and turning in the metal and stone quest and then sparring with another trainee. After that, i was able to turn this quest in and move on in the chain.

This is the wrong quest
Even after turning in Metal and Stone, I was stuck at 7/8 no matter how many more I sparred and defeated. Quitting the game and loading back in, I was able to spar one last Earth and it completed the quest.

What to do
Description
Is this what we are to rely on to help us defeat Xal'atath? The Unbound define themselves by their desertion. And the Oathsworn, for being made of stone, are pretty soft. City life hasn't done them any favors. We've got a lot of work to do. Get down there and give these earthen a taste of what it's like to face a real threat. Try not to knock any "offline," but a maiming here or there would send a strong message to the rest.
Where to go
Pins are the quest’s own POI points from the current retail client, projected onto the in-game zone map. The game marks one blob as the quest’s turn-in; the rest are objective areas. Points that fall outside a map’s window are dropped rather than guessed at.
