Note -- don't jump down into the pit following your friends -- you must wait for Lana to catch up and you talk to her before jumping in.
You can get back up again, but it takes some tricky climbing of narrow ledges.

To get back up, simply stick to the wall, especially when you see vine tendrils, because the way up is split from the other path by vine.

What to do
Description
Thrall wants us to search west of here for the site of the next ritual. We could use your help. I've already died once. It's not an experience I'd care to repeat.
Where to go
Pins are the quest’s own POI points from the current retail client, projected onto the in-game zone map. The game marks one blob as the quest’s turn-in; the rest are objective areas. Points that fall outside a map’s window are dropped rather than guessed at.

Trickier climbing than I could manage. On the other hand, you can pull a couple of spiders and let them kill you. The graveyard is just above, and you'll incur no penalty if you're still below level 10.

- Message to Base
Let us return to camp with Herbert in tow. We're one step closer towards thwarting the ogres and their plans.
After this quest
Taken from the storyline's own step order.
- Who Lurks in the Pit
There's a whole lot of shadow energy coming from this pit. I'm guessing a ritual is being performed down there. And that means a sacrifice. Do you hear that? I've got the best hearing around, ever since I got this new ear sewn onto me.
