Capturing the Unknown

Capturing the Unknown is a quest for level 1-20 in The Lost Isles. It is step 9 of 72 in The Lost Isles storyline. The quest's turn-in marker is in The Lost Isles at 27.9, 75.5. It rewards 1 reputation reward, 2,750 experience and money.

Description

Heya, <name>, there are strange cave paintings and other artifacts all over the cavern.

Do you think you could use your belt-mounted KTC Snapflash camera to capture images at the designated spots? Also, snap a pic of the altar in the back of the cavern.

I'm sure that Sassy will want the intel.

I don't know if it's just me, but when I made my way around to the Pygmy Altar, I couldn't help but notice that the 'head' on the altar bears a striking resemblance to the dodongo head entrance to King Dodongo's pit-room in Dodongo's Cavern from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Even the coloration of the lower jaw and neck of the altar's head is the same as the jaw for the entrance.

What's even more interesting is that if you stick around near the altar for a bit and listen (don't know which sound setting you need on), you can even hear a dodongo's roar every once in a while (there is also a dragon roar that plays periodically, but if you wait, you will eventually hear it. Very distinguishable).

Perhaps another reference in Blizzard's mountain of easter eggs?

  • Miner TroublesThe Lost Isles · Level 1-20

Smart mining monkeys! They're all over the inside of the cavern, mining... with picks! It's just not natural and I'm sure it's because of the kaja'mite! None of my miners have come back out. I don't have many left! You can see my predicament, <name>.

After this quest

Taken from the storyline's own step order.

  • Orcs Can Write?The Lost Isles · Level 1-20

Looking through the dead orc's belongings, you find a field journal. Though it is heavily water damaged, the writing is still legible, if barely. Flipping through the pages, an interesting story unfolds. Good thing you decided to study Orcish.
