This is part of a questline, which is great for tanks gearing up for heroic because one of the final rewards is [item=63745]. It's a longish questline, but well worth doing as this is a really good trinket. It took me about 2 hours to get to the quest that gives this item, I've kept a log of the quests and I hope this post is useful to people considering taking this on. Chains that are marked in Wowhead are grouped together, non-obvious jumps are on the next paragraph.
This post should help people who either found this page and don't know how to get this quest, or who are trying to decide whether to do this questline to get the trinket all us new tanks seem to be after. The Maw of Madness

What to do
Description
Recent events make it even more apparent that holing up here and making sporadic attacks on Grim Batol isn't enough to keep our kind safe, much less retake Grim Batol. We need to be more aggressive, we need to strike into their heart. I've agreed to send dragons to the aid of your commanders. They were already hatching a plan to strike at Grim Batol, so you should focus your attention there first. You should be able to find Mathias Shaw in Dragonmaw Pass, in the canyon below us to the south.
