If you're a miner and get the wise idea to abandon this quest once you realize that killing the candleking makes the other kobolds hostile again (because it's way easier to mine seams in the cave without kobolds attacking constantly), don't... I haven't been able to find where to reacquire the quest, and it doesn't turn them un-hostile.
