TheWoWDBSigh - I came here to find out what I have to do. Do I kill him? Do I get him down to a certain amount of health? What is the goal? I guess I'll edit this to tell what happened when I'm done. Just a note, folks. Not everyone learns well from videos, or can play them in real time while they have WoW running.
ETA: 16% health, 1268k as written in his health bar. He starts to cast Deathbolt, that you need to interrupt. I found that there were soul shards spawning around the edge of the circle he stands in, which helped immensely in keeping my health up. He gives up, you click on him to talk, and Matron Mother brings you home. I had Altruis, and did not get the Shade of Akama, but Akama himself.
I'm surely not the best DH out there, and I may be close to the worst, since I can't seem to get the hang of the mobility aspects. I find these types of comments here help lots more than 'here, look at my video' because I usually cannot replicate what's done in the video.

Have a talk with Matron Mother Malevolence to open a portal to Black Temple. After you passed through, start a scenario. Follow the stairs up, where illidari's breaking the wall. Do not forget to speak with Kayn / Altruis to proceed next stage. Akama will attack you and you have to deal with him. When you win him, there Allari the Soulreaver turn him into Shade of Akama. Get back to Maardum and turn up the quest. You able to recruit [champion=719] now.

So, not paying attention, I died. When I revived I freaked out because the barrier was back up and I couldn't get in! I ran back down to talk to the Matron Mother, in case she could let me in, and she wouldn't talk to me. Then I noticed another stairway on the other side. I ran up that way and it was not blocked. So if you die, just go around the other way and you can continue the scenario.

Description
The book from Lan'dalock is very enlightening. It describes a technique which will provide a simple and elegant bypass around the Black Temple's holy barriers. I will need but a moment to summon a gateway. Stand back, please.
